My Thoughts –
I loved the first book of this trilogy Three Dark Crowns by the same author. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the second one and asked for it for my birthday. I am really glad that I have read this second, I however took a really long time to get through the second one, it wasn’t a great reading experience.
If you have read the first one then you will know what it is all about, if you haven’t then you really need to get on with it. It is an epic book and the second one keeps on being just as epic. It follows three sisters, who have been separated since very young, as one day they will all have to fight to the death in order to find out who is going to be in charge of the island they rule.
There are lots of twists and turns, lots of backstabbing and horrible name calling through this book. There is a lot of sibling rivalry, but also a lot of love.
I found this book harder to read than the first book. There just seemed to be a lot of things happening at the same time. Although I think I had the same problem with the first book too. A lot happens throughout the book, but it isn’t until the very end of the book that it really picks up the pace and gets super interesting.
I was struggling to find something to keep me going throughout this book, as there was nothing concrete to pull me back in. I think because I loved the first book so much was the only reason I liked this book and kept reading it.
The writing is fantastic, the growth of the characters which we were introduced to in the first book is great and the plot change the end is AMAZING. Although I had a hard time reading this one, I can’t wait to struggle my through the third book.
If you like trilogy’s, sisters fighting and eternal battles, then this is the book for you.
I give this book 4.0 out of 5 Booky Stars!
